Bobby Earl Underwood, age 91, of Douglas, Georgia passed away on Friday, October 2, 2020 at his residence. Mr. Underwood was born on March 29, 1929 in Douglas, Georgia the son of the late Rufus Leslie Underwood and Ethel Kitchens Underwood.

Mr. Underwood retired from Satilla Rural Electric Corporation after 45 years as a manager, was a veteran of the United States Navy and was a member of First Baptist Church, Douglas, Georgia. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Lene Stevens Underwood and a brother, Billy Ray Underwood.

Survivors include his sister and caregiver, Barbara Bivins of Douglas, GA; his children, Cheryl Cleveland (Larry) of Douglas, GA, Robbi Atkins (Mike) of Brunswick, GA and Tami Dasko (Mike) of Douglas, GA; grandchildren, Ami Kidd (Tim) of Douglas, GA, Grant Atkins of Rockmart, GA, Adam Atkins (Megan) of Brunswick, GA, Lexi Franco (Ryan) of Atlanta, GA and Michael John Dasko of Douglas, GA; great grandchildren, Lee Kidd of Douglas, GA, Harper and Beau Atkins of Brunswick, GA, Cooper and Leighton Franco of Atlanta, GA and Kayson and Knox Atkins of Rockmart, GA.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, October 5, 2020 at 2:00pm at Douglas City Cemetery with Rev. Shep Johnson and Rev. Lee Lott officiating with Mr. Lee Holder giving a eulogy. Military honors will be given by The United States Navy Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Grant Atkins, Adam Atkins, Lee Kidd, Michael John Dasko, Tim Kidd and Robb Underwood. Music will be provided by Terry Bailey singing “How Great Thou Art” and a song written by Bobby, “Dad’s Song” on CD.

Sims Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
