Mr. Walter Edward Veal, age 71 of Fitzgerald, passed away Monday afternoon, October 5, 2020 at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton following a short illness. Mr. Veal was born January 22, 1949 to the late Roy Lee Veal, Sr. and the late Mildred Graves Veal. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by four siblings: R. L. Veal, Laverne Ruff, Sandra Newell and Nelva Grace Veal.

Mr. Veal, a native of Broxton, GA, was a member of Ocilla Church of God in Ocilla. He had loved serving the Lord for 30 plus years. He was very passionate about his faith. He read his Bible and prayed daily. Mr. Veal had a big sense of humor and loved to tease his three daughters. He loved his family and worked hard all his life to provide for them by doing what he loved, truck driving. Mr. Veal was also an avid fisherman and he loved taking fishing trips with his beloved wife.

Daughters: Dawn Adkinson and husband Tripp of Fitzgerald, GA
Deanne Sigmund and husband Trey of Tifton, GA
Angel Wilson and husband Zach of Fitzgerald, GA

Grandchildren: Cain and Cooper Adkinson of Ocilla, GA
Arthur and Annie Sigmund of Tifton, GA
Briggs Wilson of Fitzgerald, GA

Brother: Glynn Veal and wife Joanne of Douglas, GA

Sisters: Ann Dora Merritt of Douglas, GA
Brenda Atkinson and husband Dewayne of Cairo, GA

A number of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends

The funeral service will be Thursday, October 8, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Ocilla Church of God in Ocilla with Rev. Joshua Bowles officiating. The interment will follow in Grantham Cemetery in Coffee County.

The family will receive friends Thursday morning October 8, 2020 from 10:00 AM until the funeral hour at 11:00 AM.

Please note, due to COVID-19, attendees are asked to observe six foot social distancing at the service, visitation and graveside. Please wear your mask for safety precautions and in accordance with the CDC guidelines.
