4-H members are reminded that Friday, October 23, is the deadline to sign up for the 4-H BB or Archery teams. At this time, we are not collecting the team fee, but we will inform you of this deadline soon. Team fees usually run around $120 for both of these teams.

The archery team usually competes in the State 4-H Indoor Archery Match in Perry during mid-January. They will also compete in the State 4-H Outdoor Match at the Rock Eagle 4-H Center in late April or early May.

The BB Team usually competes in the Area 4-H BB Match in March or April and if they qualify will advance to the State 4-H BB Match at the Rock Eagle 4-H Center in late April or early May. The BB Team meeting will be held on Monday, October 26, at 7 PM, in the Family Ministry Center of First Baptist Church. Only one parent should attend the meeting with the 4-H member.

Both teams may also compete in various other competitions throughout the winter and spring.

Project Achievement

4-H members are reminded to sign up for their DPA project as soon as possible so they can start working on their presentations. DPA will be held in Lyons, Georgia, on Saturday, November 14.  Members can also present their demonstrations during their monthly 4-H Club meetings for extra credit. Due to COVID-19, Coffee County will only be allowed to take 40 participants to this contest. We also have new methods for working on projects, so please make sure you get the current requirements when signing up for your project.

Projects available range from Bicycle to Wildlife. There are 62 different categories. Parents can help their child select a project that interests them.  Check out the categories by going to:  coffee4h.org, Web Links, Project Achievement Websites, and Cloverleaf Project List.

The sign-up deadline for Cloverleaf Project Achievement is Friday, October 16.  Call or come by the 4‑H office soon to sign up for a project.  Projects are assigned on a first-come basis.  4-H staff members will be happy to help you get started and answer any questions you may have as you work on your presentation. For more information, call 384-1402.

Adopt-A-Highway Workday

4-H members are encouraged to take part in the upcoming Adopt-A-Highway community service project. It will be held on Tuesday, October 20, 4:00 – 5:00 PM, at the 4-H office. We could always use extra volunteer leaders to help. Help us keep Coffee County looking great by keeping trash off our streets. Remember, face masks are required and temperature checks will be done in the parking lot.

4-H Holiday Card Art Contest

We had some wonderful pieces of art turned in for the Georgia 4-H Holiday Card Contest this year. Participants were: Eastside: Ari Morris; Home School 4-H Club: Johanna Merritt, Anna Miller, and Rhett Miller; Indian Creek: Kendall Grantham and Khloe Key; Senior 4-H Club: Muskan Minhas and Ishika Sadarangani; Westside: Ashly Aldana Menendez, Arianna Bennett, Joselynne Espitia, Reece Robinson, Shubh Sadarangani, and Asia Williams. We wish you all the best of luck in this statewide contest.

Fair Contest Results

With the state and local fairs being cancelled this year, Coffee County 4-H decided to offer fair contests at the local level. Contests with Senior 4-H entries included: Mini-booth Exhibit: Muskan Minhas and Ishika Sadarangani; Recycling: Jake Grantham and Ishika Sadarangani.  The Decorated Pumpkin Contest deadline has been extended until 4 PM on Friday, October 16.

If you would like to learn how you can become more involved with the Coffee County 4-H program, please contact the Coffee County Extension office at (912) 384-1402 or visit our website at http://coffee4h.org.
