4-H members are reminded that Friday, October 23, is the deadline to sign up for the 4-H BB or Archery teams. At this time, we are not collecting the team fee, but we will inform you of this deadline soon. Team fees usually run around $120 for both of these teams.

The archery team usually competes in the State 4-H Indoor Archery Match in Perry during mid-January. They will also compete in the State 4-H Outdoor Match at the Rock Eagle 4-H Center in late April or early May.

The BB Team usually competes in the Area 4-H BB Match in March or April and if they qualify will advance to the State 4-H BB Match at the Rock Eagle 4-H Center in late April or early May. The BB Team meeting will be held on Monday, October 26, at 7 PM, in the Family Ministry Center of First Baptist Church. Only one parent should attend the meeting with the 4-H member.

Both teams may also compete in various other competitions throughout the winter and spring.

National 4-H Week

National 4-H Week was observed the week of October 4-10. We had a great group of 4-H members record public service announcements for the local radio stations. Participants included:  Jake Grantham, Raiden Grantham, Muskan Minhas, Brianna Moreno, Ishika Sadarangani, Shubh Sadarangani, Florence Shealy, and Caroline Spivey.

In addition, we had help putting out 4-H week signs around the courthouse and Ag. Center. These participants included: Jake Grantham, Raiden Grantham, Muskan Minhas, Brianna Moreno, Ishika Sadarangani, Shubh Sadarangani, Florence Shealy, and Caroline Spivey.

On Monday, October 5, the following 4-H members attended the County Commission Meeting for the signing of the 4-H Week Proclamation: Ashton Ates, Amelia Crockett, Muskan Minhas, Ishika Sadarangani, and Sariah Wells.

4-H Fundraiser

We need your help! Coffee County 4-H is offering Hog-N-Bones Boston Butt tickets to sell to the public. The tickets sell for $25, a savings of $5 ($7.40 with tax) for these Boston butts. For 4-H members who are planning to participate in a 4-H competition or attend summer camp this school year, the profit of $4 per ticket from these ticket sales can be used to pay for your team registration fee or camp fee. Tickets are available now and a parent can come to the 4-H office to pick up tickets. The tickets can be used until January 1, 2021, to pick up the Boston butt at the Douglas Hog-N-Bones restaurant anytime during their normal business hours, but you do need to call ahead to reserve your Boston Butt. Remember, this fund raiser is raising money to benefit YOU 4-H’ers! So take advantage of this great opportunity to earn camp credit.

Goat and Lamb Show

The State Market Goat and Lamb Shows were held at the Georgia National Fairgrounds on October 8-11.  Market goat showmanship classes were held on Friday, October 9, with the wether show immediately following. Does were shown on Saturday, October 10. Lamb showmanship was held on Saturday, October 10, and the Market Lamb Show was held on Sunday, October 11. 4-H participants included: Hayden Gay, Hollyn Gay, Kyleigh Gay, McKenzie Gay, and Nora Taylor White in the Market Goat Show and Blakely Williams in the Market Lamb Show.

If you would like to learn how you can become more involved with the Coffee County 4-H program, please contact the Coffee County Extension office at (912) 384-1402 or visit our website at http://coffee4h.org.
