Citizens in Douglas and Coffee County are invited to start a season of giving by participating in the Coffee County Community Toy Drive.  Public Safety Agencies, along with many local community agencies, are hosting the annual Community Toy Drive for boys and girls ages 12 and under.

“We have approximately 500 youth in our community who are on toy lists with local agencies,” says Mayor Tony Paulk.  “Thanks to support from our community last year, we helped over 300 children! This year, I know we can help make this is a great Christmas for more children because we are a community that loves our children.”

Persons who are aware of a family or child that is in need of assistance, should contact CSRA Probation Services, (912) 384-7371, for an application or applications may be picked up at the Douglas Police Department (225 W. Bryan Street) and Douglas Fire Department (306 E. Cherry Street).  Applications must be completed entirely and returned to CSRA Probation Services, located at 608 North Madison Avenue, prior to Dec. 1, 2020, by 4pm.  It is absolutely vital that a working phone number be listed on the form because qualifying families will be contacted by phone to participate on toy distribution day.  To make a monetary donation for the Community Toy Drive, checks should be made payable to: City of Douglas, Memo: Community Toy Drive, 211 S. Gaskin Avenue, Douglas, GA 31533.  All monetary donations collected will be used to purchase gifts for the children.

Special thanks to Southwire, CSRA Probation Services, Douglas Police Department, Douglas Fire Department, City of Douglas, Douglas Lions Club, and other local businesses for their support and contribution to this community event.
