Lurlyne Cox Stevens, age 82, of Douglas, Georgia passed away on Sunday, November 29, 2020 at Coffee Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Stevens was born on October 27, 1938 in Jeff Davis County, Georgia the daughter of the late Austin Cox and Oppie Lee Yarberry Cox.

 

Mrs. Stevens was owner/operator of Carol’s Nursery and was a member of Rocky Pond Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Carroll Stevens, daughter, Vera Denise Drummond and a brother, J.D. Cox.

 

Survivors include daughter, Jackie Hathaway of Douglas, GA; son, Steve Carroll Stevens (Debra) of Douglas, GA;  two sisters, Bonnie Harrell of Douglas, GA and Montez Bennett of Cordele, GA; brother, Larry John Cox of Douglas, GA; grandchildren, Stuart Arnold, David Drummond, Kyle Courson, Brandon Courson, Casey Stevens; eleven great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

 

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday December 2, 2020 at 2:00pm at Douglas City Cemetery with Rev. Lonnie Spikes officiating. Pallbearers will be Stuart Arnold, David Drummond, Kyles Courson, Brandon Courson, Dakota Arnold and Casey Stevens.

 

The family will receive friends Wednesday December 2, 2020 from 12:30pm until 1:30pm at Sims Funeral Home.

 

Sims Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

 

Due to COVID-19, Sims Funeral Home Inc. request attendees to wear appropriate medical grade face-masks and maintain social distancing at all times while visiting our facility, and highly encouraged at our services outside of our facility.  Masks are not provided.
