Chester L. Thomas Sr, age 72, of Broxton, Georgia passed away on Friday, December 25, 2020 at Bacon County Hospital, Alma, Georgia. Mr. Thomas was born on April 9, 1948 in Coffee County, Georgia the son of the late David and Jesse Mae Evans Thomas.


Mr. Thomas worked as a manager with NAPA Auto Parts, was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Vietnam War and was a member of Broxton Church of God. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene Thomas, son, Michael Byrd, sister, Wanell Thomas and brothers, Fred Thomas and Wayne Thomas.

 

Survivors include two daughters, Belinda Thomas of Douglas, GA and Jessica Bennett (Scott) of Douglas, GA; son, Chester L. Thomas Jr., of McRae, GA; seven grandchildren, Amelia Lashley (Garrett), Devan Thomas, Sara Beth Heveder, Trey Thomas, Chloe Thomas, Colby Thomas and Taylor Thomas; great grandchildren, Avery Lashley, Ezva Lashley, Jr Pineda and Olivia Pineda; three brothers, Emory Thomas of Atlanta, GA, Henry Thomas of Atlanta, GA and Donald Lee Thomas (Belinda) of Atlanta, GA; several nieces and nephews.

 

The family will receive friends Wednesday afternoon, December 30, 2020 from 1pm until time of service at 2pm at Sims Funeral Home.

 

Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at 2:00pm at Sims Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Floyd Musgrove and Rev. Thomas Johnson officiating.

 

Sims Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

 

Due to COVID-19, Sims Funeral Home Inc. will require all guests and attendees to wear appropriate medical grade face-masks and maintain social distancing at all times while visiting our facility, and highly encouraged at our services outside of our facility.  Masks are not provided.
