Ms. Viola Thrower was born on October 1, 1939. She was born and raised in Rebecca, GA., to the late Eddie and Lee Holmes Thrower. She attended elementary and high school in Rebecca, GA. She later moved to Miami, FL, where she met her daughter’s father, the late P.V. Edwards, who passed before the birth of their daughter, Joan Edwards.
Viola then moved to Douglas, Ga, where she met the late Vietnam War Vet PVT Edis Black, who was the father of her son Lee Roy Thrower, “Baby Boy,” as she called him. Ms. Viola worked at Harrell’s Dry Cleaners and South Georgia College for several years. She attended Williams Chapel under the leadership of Bishop Nuby Jean Williams, where she played the bass drum for many years. Ms. Viola was a true praiser and worshiper. She loved God, and as long as the church’s doors were open and she could attend, she was there. Ms. Viola loved her church family. She was truly indeed a good and faithful servant. She is preceded in death by eight siblings: Adella Young, Roxella Thorton, Mary Lee Austin, Susie Mae (Jerry) Robinson, Mamie Lue Wilson, Clarence Thrower, Willie C. Thrower, and Anderson Thrower.
She leaves to cherish her memories: two loving children: Joann Edwards (Conner Crook) of Douglas, GA., and Lee Roy (Cheryal) Thrower of Miami Fl; five wonderful grandchildren: Antorius (Sakia) Baldwin, Antwana Edwards, Latorya “Coco” (Eric) Hall, Makeischa (Kadeem) Bailey, Latrelle Thrower; a special grandson: Bronswellus (Aquintha) Kent, along with a host of greatgrandchildren; eleven siblings: Martha Mae Thrower, Bernice (Jimmy) Jones, Ruth Mae Foster, Annie Bell Sutton, Joseph Thrower, Jim (Mary Lisa) Thrower, Eddie “Snook” Thrower Jr., Perry (Gail) Thrower, James (Pam) Thrower, Matt (Vivian) Thrower, and Fred Wilson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
