Louise Burkett, age 82, of Broxton, Georgia passed away on Monday, January 11, 2021. Mrs. Burkett was born on January 14, 1938 in Coffee County, Georgia the daughter of the late June T. and Mille Jane Stapleton Powell.

 

She retired from Walmart as a stocker and attended Faith Mission Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Loyce Freddy Burkett Sr, son, Gerald Burkett and three grandchildren, Jeffrey Roberts, Jake DeWayne Burkett and Jose Guerrero.

 

Survivors include two daughters, Beatrice Roberts of Douglas, GA and Carolyn Guerrero of Douglas, GA; two sons, Loy Burkett (Brenda) of Broxton, GA and Royce Burkett (Susan) of West Green, GA; thirteen grandchildren and twenty-five great grandchildren; brother, Dennis June Powell of Douglas, GA; several nieces and nephews.

 

The family will receive friends Saturday, January 16, 2021 from 6pm until 9pm at Sims Funeral Home.

 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, January 17, 2021 at Sims Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Brandon McMillian and Rev. Marlon Smith officiating. Interment will follow at New Hope Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brandon Burkett, Joey Burkett, Tyler Willard, Blake Burkett, Jerome Burkett, Jesse Roberts, Roscoe Francis, Michael Brown and Jonathon Tucker.

 

Sims Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

 

Due to COVID-19, Sims Funeral Home Inc. will require all guests and attendees to wear appropriate medical grade face-masks and maintain social distancing at all times while visiting our facility, and highly encouraged at our services outside of our facility.  Masks are not provided.
