Three people were jailed on multiple drug charges in Coffee County recently following a suspected attempt to sneak various illegal substances into the Coffee County Jail.

An inmate at the jail, Amber Dorsey, appeared in Coffee County Superior Court on Wednesday, Jan. 13. After pleading guilty to one charge of possession of methamphetamine, Dorsey was placed on probation and scheduled to be released from jail the same day. Dorsey subsequently telephoned a second suspect, Jonathan Medley, requesting Medley to pick her up from the jail upon her release.

Medley arrived at the Coffee County Jail later the same day. In the meantime, Coffee County drug detectives learned that Medley and Dorsey had conspired to get drugs into the facility at this time. A third suspect, Destiny Ostrander, accompanied Medley upon his arrival at the facility.

Detectives confronted Medley and Ostrander at this time, and a search of Medley’s vehicle was conducted. Upon investigation, various quantities of suspected methamphetamine, Xanax, and marijuana were recovered, along with a large sum of money. Ostrander claimed some of the suspected drugs and was placed under arrest. Medley and Dorsey were placed under arrest, as well.

Ostrander was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug related objects, and drugs not in original container.

Medley was charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana, use of a communication facility in committing or facilitating the commission of a felony, giving to or possession of prohibited items by inmates, and possession of drug related objects.

Dorsey was charged with use of a communication facility in committing or facilitating the commission of a felony and giving to or possession of prohibited items by inmates.

All three suspects were walked into the jail and booked.
