American Enterprise Day is, as Nora Lott so wonderfully wrote in her essay, “a day to celebrate America’s free enterprise, the significance of that freedom, and a day to educate people of the matter.”

In celebration of American Enterprise Week this year, the Coffee High School Chapter sponsored an essay contest to all 8th grade students enrolled in business and computer science courses at Coffee Middle School as well as current Coffee Middle School FBLA members. Participants were prompted to describe what American Enterprise Day meant to them in a detailed essay.

Nora Lott, an active 8th grader and CMS FBLA member did an outstanding job in writing her essay. Her essay included both historical details and her own personal understanding of the day, and last but not least, her gratitude for this economic system.  Her winning entry perfectly presented to the readers everything that is American Enterprise. Nora and her FBLA adviser, Heather Stodghill, were recognized at the December Coffee High FBLA meeting and Nora received a Wal-Mart gift card for receiving first place.
