Johnny Ira Cohen, age 58, of Ocilla, Georgia passed away on Sunday, February 21, 2021 at South Georgia Medical Center, Valdosta, Georgia.

 

Mr. Cohen was born on October 14, 1962 in Pierce County, Georgia the son of the late Harry Edward Cohen and Mattie Crews Cohen. Mr. Cohen retired with CSX and was of the Baptist faith.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Cohen and a niece, Kimberly Cohen.

 

Survivors include his wife, Gayle Cohen of Ocilla, GA; three daughters, Brittni Hutchinson (Dustin) of Broxton, GA, Jessica Cohen (Ricky) of Acworth, GA and Jamie Strickland of Oxford, GA; son, Dustin Brown (Leigh Anne) of Monticello, GA; six grandchildren, Teegan Donahue, Carter Griffin, Wentz Griffin, Rhylan Griffin, Adam Brown and Hunter Brown; fur babies, Ruby and Raven; several nieces and nephews.

 

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, February 23, 2021 from 6pm until 9pm at Sims Funeral Home.

 

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at 11:00am at Sims Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. George Carroll Paulk officiating. Interment will follow at Douglas City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Johnson, Charles King, Aubrey Keil, Jim Walker, Ben Swain and Gary Vickers. Honorary pallbearers will be motorcycle riding friends.

 

Sims Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

 

Due to COVID-19, Sims Funeral Home Inc. will require all guests and attendees to wear appropriate medical grade face-masks and maintain social distancing at all times while visiting our facility, and highly encouraged at our services outside of our facility.  Masks are not provided.
