Jonell Nettles Corbitt, age 79, of Douglas, formerly of Pearson was granted everlasting life on Saturday, February 27, 2021 while at Emory Hospice Atlanta.  She was born on June, 26, 1941 to the late Enos and Mattie Mae Musgrove Nettles.  She is preceded in death by the love of her life, Mitchell Corbitt; grandbaby, Heather Amanda Baxley; four sisters, Eunice Stutts, Sadie Johnson, Delois Morris and Vinell Nettles.

 

Her survivors are: 

 

Children: Rickey and Jan Corbitt, Holly Jo and Jerone Nails, Brent Corbitt.

 

Grandchildren:  Stacey Lynn Corbitt, Zach Baxley, Lauren and Brian Lee and Breanna and Stephen Dixon

 

Great-grandchildren:  Axley Kate and Huck Mitchell Dixon

 

Brother:  David and Charlotte Nettles 

 

Sisters:  Eula Magie, Rosie McKell, Yvonne Maddox, Betty Sue Whiddon, Hazel Brinson, Vera Purvis and Sandra Lott

 

Jonell worked with Concerted Services in Atkinson County, she had a true passion for helping others.  She taught Sunday School and was a faithful servant for the Lord.  She loved being a homemaker, wife, Mother and Mema.  She was an amazing teacher by example.

 

She enjoyed thrift shopping with her sisters, bird watching, gardening and was an avid reader.

 

She will be greatly missed by all.

 

Due to COVID-19 concerns, the family will be having a private service at Stokesville Baptist Church Cemetery, in honor of Mrs. Corbitt.

 

Relihan Funeral Home is in charge of all the arrangements.
