Mr. Miguel Angel Contreras, Jr. age 24 of Pearson, passed away early Sunday morning, February 21, 2021 from injuries received in an automobile accident. Miguel, Jr. was born on August 3, 1996 in Douglas, GA to Miguel and Eva Cardoza Contreras Sr. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and was a student at South Georgia State College. He was preceded in death by a sister, Araceli Contreras, and maternal grandmother Eva Cardoza.

Survivors include:

Parents: Miguel Angel Contreras, Sr. and Eva Cardoza Contreras of Pearson, Georgia

Sister: Melanie Contreras of Pearson, Georgia

Brother: Gabriel Contreras of Pearson Georgia

Paternal Grandfather – Jose Contreras of Alturas, FL

Paternal Grandmother – Escolastica Sanchez of Willacoochee, Georgia

Maternal Grandfather – Lazaro Cardoza of Pearson, Georgia

Several other relatives also survive.

Funeral mass will be held at St. Paul’s Catholic Church on Wednesday February 24, 2021 at noon with Father Paul O’Connell officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Family Catholic Cemetery in Atkinson County.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6:00 – 9:00 P.M at Ricketson Funeral Home.

Due to COVD-19, all attendees are asked to observe six foot social distancing at the visitation, funeral mass and interment. Please wear your mask for safety precautions and in accordance with CDC guidelines.

Ricketson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
