Marvin V. Bookout, age 86, of Douglas, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at his residence. Mr. Bookout was born on January 19, 1935 in Broxton, Georgia, the son of the late George Arthur and Attie Armond Milsep Bookout.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Ettie Eugenia Bookout Vickers, four brothers, and three sisters.

 

Mr. Bookout was a retired sheriff’s deputy for Coffee County Sheriff’s Office. He also worked as a farmer, painter, a truck driver and, a security guard for Coffee Regional Medical Center. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean War and was a member of Providence Baptist Church.

 

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Wanda Bookout of Douglas, GA; daughter, Marcia Leigh Steed (Johnny) of Nicholls, GA; sons, Marvin  Keith Bookout (Cindy) of Douglas, GA and, Elbert Dewayne Bookout of West Green, GA; 11 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and, several nieces and nephews.

 

Graveside services will be held Thursday, March 11, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Donnie Kirkland officiating. Military honors will be provided by Ft. Stewart Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Jonathan, Cason, Dillon, Anthony, Cameron, Ashley, Michael Vickers and Jared Vickers.

 

The family will receive friends after the service at the gravesite.

 

Sims Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

 

Due to COVID-19, Sims Funeral Home Inc. will require all guests and attendees to wear appropriate medical grade face-masks and maintain social distancing at all times while visiting our facility, and highly encouraged at our services outside of our facility.  Masks are not provided.
