Ross Elbert Simmons Jr., age 82, of Douglas, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at Coffee Regional Medical Center. Mr. Simmons was born on April 22, 1938 in Coffee County, Georgia the son of the late Ross Elbert and McLean Simmons Sr.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Simmons.

 

Mr. Simmons worked as a gas station attendant and attended Trinity Non-Denominational Church, Douglas, Georgia.

 

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Ellen Simmons of Douglas, Georgia; daughters, Lynda Dee Tanner (Shane) of Douglas, GA, Roxanne Gaither of Douglas, GA and Valarie Proudfoot (Chad) of Nicholls, GA; brother, Jerry Simmons of Wray, GA; sister, Evie Mae Goodman of Fitzgerald, GA; grandchildren, Phillip Gross (Missy) of Douglas, GA, Bobbie Tanner (Derek) of Douglas, GA, KayeDee Haynes (Clint) of Ambrose, GA, Blake Watson of Valdosta, GA, Dalton Brown of Nicholls, GA, Shane L. Tanner of Douglas, GA and, James Tanner of Douglas, GA; 11 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.

 

The family will receive friends Friday, March 26, 2021 from 12 noon until 1:30 p.m. at Sims Funeral Home.

 

Graveside services will be held on Friday, March 26, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Oak Grove Cemetery, Broxton, GA with Rev. Floyd Musgrove officiating. Pallbearers will be Blake Watson, Dalton Brown, Shane L. Tanner, James Tanner, Will Herring and, Braedon Payton.

 

Sims Funeral Home, Douglas, GA is in charge of arrangements.

 

Due to COVID-19, Sims Funeral Home Inc. will require all guests and attendees to wear appropriate medical grade face-masks and maintain social distancing at all times while visiting our facility, and highly encouraged at our services outside of our facility.  Masks are not provided.
