Mr. Melvin Davis, age 71 of Nicholls, GA, passed away early Tuesday morning, April 20, 2021 at Vista Park following an extended illness. Mr. Davis was born July 31, 1949 to the late Jeff Davis and the late Willie Mae Carter Davis. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister: Loretha Davis; 2 brothers: Jeff Lawton Davis and Lamar Davis and Step-Sister: Delorice Prescott.
Mr. Davis, a native of Douglas, GA, was a self-employed salvage worker. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Tommy Davis of Ambrose, GA
Sister: Lois Peacock of Jacksonville, FL
Half-Sisters: Nora Metts and Lisa Chaney both of Douglas, GA
Half-Brother: Stafford Davis of Douglas, GA
Step-Sister: Ivalynn Moore of Douglas, GA
Several Nieces and Nephews, including 2 Special Nieces, Barbara Baker of Milton, FL and Rosie Merritt of Douglas, GA
The graveside service and interment will be Thursday morning at 10:00 AM at Chatterton Cemetery with Elder Tony Wright presenting a eulogy and Elder Ray Fussell giving the message. Elder Tommy Davis will dedicate the grave.
Musical selections for the service will be: “Lead Me Home” and “I Saw the Light”.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening, April 21, 2021 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Ricketson Funeral Home.
Due to COVID-19, attendees are asked to observe six foot social distancing at the visitation and graveside service and interment. Please wear your mask for safety precautions and in accordance with CDC guidelines.
