Mrs. Hazel Grantham Spivey, age 102 passed away early Friday morning, June 18, 2021 at Southern Senior Living following an extended illness. Mrs. Spivey was born December 23, 1918 to the late Henry Grantham and the late Dottie Batten Grantham. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Lunzy Spivey, a Step-Son, John J. Spivey, a Step-Daughter, Geraldine Norris, 5 Brothers; Simon Grantham, Leroy Grantham, Elmer Grantham, Tommy Grantham and Baby Grantham; 2 sisters: Vera Hawkins and Marie Smith.

Mrs. Spivey, a native of Coffee County, was a retired teacher having taught at Eastside, Westside and Central School. She was an active member of Salem Holiness Baptist Church for many years.

Survivors include:

Son: Al Spivey and wife Pam of Douglas, GA

Grandchildren: Aric Spivey of Douglas, GA
Barney Spivey of Douglas, GA
Jaye Spivey of Fernandina Beach, FL
John J. Spivey, Jr. of Douglas, GA
Andrew Spivey of Waycross, GA

Great Grandsons: Wyatt Spivey and Maxon Spivey both of Douglas, GA

Several Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and Many Friends.

The funeral service will be Sunday afternoon, June 20, 2021 at 4:00 PM at Salem Holiness Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy Green, Rev. Bobby Fussell and Rev. Buddy Phillips officiating. Mrs. Spivey will lie-in-state at the church Sunday afternoon from 3:00 until 4:00 PM. The interment will follow in Grantham Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Saturday evening, June 19, 2021 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at Ricketson Funeral Home.

Due to COVID-19, attendees are asked to observe six foot social distancing at the visitation, funeral service and interment. Please wear your mask for safety precautions and in accordance with CDC guidelines.

Ricketson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
