J. W. Hicks, age 65, of Douglas, Georgia passed away on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center, Jacksonville, Florida.

 

Mr. Hicks was born on October 18, 1955 in Coffee County, Georgia the son of the late Louise Herrington Hicks. Mr. Hicks was a lifelong resident of Coffee County. He had many business adventures through the years, but the last 20 years was escorting extra wide & tall loads throughout the county.

 

Survivors include his wife, Ruth McKinnon Hicks of Douglas, GA; son, Michael Hicks (Brandy) of Broxton, GA; 2 daughters, Becky Edens (Steven) of Douglas, GA and, Lisie Cason (Lucas) of Homerville, GA; grandchildren, Christina Hurst (Jason), Austin Edens (Madison), Raelyn Tucker (Mitchell), Kameron Mancil (Mallory), Danielle Edens (Jett), Leia Hicks, Jacob Hicks, Steven Cason, Walker Cason; great grandchildren, Aubree Grimes, Hallie Tucker, Aurora Edens.

 

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, June 30, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Sims Funeral Home.

 

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, July 1, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Franklin Church Cemetery, Douglas, GA with Rev. Larry Stone officiating. Pallbearers will be Steven Edens, Lucas Cason, Jason Hurst, Mitchell Tucker, Austin Edens and Joey Minter.

 

Sims Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
