Shirley Elizabeth Sheffield Cato, age 84, of Broxton, Georgia passed away on Monday, June 27, 2021 in Broxton, Georgia. Mrs. Cato was born on August 19, 1936 in Smithville, Mississippi the daughter of the late Samuel Addison & Willie Bell Sheffield.

 

Mrs. Cato was a retired store manager with Bills Dollar Store and was a member of Providence Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Cato, sister, Virginia Hutcheson and 2 brothers, Norris Sheffield and Doug Sheffield.

 

Survivors include children, Angie Scott of Broxton, GA, Denise (Walter) Whitaker of Broxton, GA, Bruce (Terri) Cato of Hawkinsville, GA and Amy (Bobby) Boulet of Douglas, GA; grandchildren, Neal Whitaker, Marguerite (Matthew) Whitehead, Cory (Tori) Foster and Bruce (Abby) Cato; great grandchildren, Carli Whitehead and Jordan Whithead; 2 brothers, David Sheffield of Ponte Verda, FL and Mike Sheffield of Douglas, GA; 3 sisters, Paula DeCamp of Douglas, GA, Donna Ray of Dayton, Ohio and Sue harper of Douglas, GA; several nieces and nephews.

 

The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 29, 2021 from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Carver Baptist Church, Douglas, Georgia.

 

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. at Carver Baptist Church with Rev. George Carroll Paulk officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Cory Foster, Bruce Cato, Matthew Whitehead, Tony Latham, Chip Veazey and Bryan Veazey.

 

Musical selections will be “Through it All” and “Precious Memories” by the Liberty Quartet with Den Winager of piano.

 

Sims Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
