Mrs. Nelva “Nell” Pelz Tanner, age 74 of Pearson, Ga., passed away Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at her home following an extended illness.  She was born December 20, 1946, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank and Vonice Courson Pelz. 

 

After graduating from Atkinson County High School in 1965, Mrs. Nell became a hairdresser and beautician who, along with her sister, went on to open and run, Nita & Nell’s Beauty Shop, in downtown Pearson for over 40 years.  Once retired, Mrs. Nell enjoyed many other hobbies which included, gardening, flowers, reading and doing crossword puzzles.  She attended Sweetwater United Methodist Church in Pearson, Ga.  Mrs. Nell was preceded in death, along with her parents, by her brother, Bernard Pelz.

 

Survivors include:

 

Husband: Johnny Tanner of Pearson, Ga.

 

Son: Locke Tanner and wife April of Lizella, Ga.

 

Sisters: Patsy Walker of Pearson, Ga.

            Nita Walker of Pearson, Ga.

 

Grandchildren: Ella Tanner and Sutherlin Tanner 

 

Several nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

 

Graveside memorial services for Mrs. Tanner were held Saturday, July 24, 2021, at 10 a.m. at the Pelz Family Cemetery with Rev. Austin DeLoach officiating.  Special musical selections included, “I Remember You” and “Amazing Grace” both rendered by c.d.  The interment followed in the Pelz Family Cemetery.

 

Memorialization was by cremation.

 

Relihan Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
