Mrs. Vera May Peavy, age 96 of Douglas, GA, passed away Thursday morning, August 5, 2021 at Vista Park Health and Rehabilitation following an extended illness. Mrs. Peavy was born April 12, 1925 to the late Mose May and the late Verdie Davis May. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Jay T. Peavy.

Mrs. Peavy, a native of Axson, GA, was a homemaker. She was a devoted Christian wife and mother. For a number of years she was a faithful member of West Ward Church of God.

Survivors include:

1 Son: C. Travis Peavy and wife Ila of Douglas, GA

3 Grandsons: Rev. Travis Peavy and wife Sherry of Alma, GA
Rev. Barry Peavy and wife Beth of Monroe, GA
Rev. Britt Peavy and wife Kristal of Douglas, GA

6 Great Grandchildren: Matt, Josh, Thadd, Kristian, Kameron and Kadi

10 Great Great Grandchildren

1 Brother: Jack May

A host of other family and friends

The funeral service will be Monday afternoon, August 9, 2021 at 3:30 PM at West Ward Church of God with her three grandsons, Rev. Britt Peavy, Rev. Barry Peavy and Rev. Travis Peavy officiating. The interment will follow in Axson Cemetery in Atkinson County.

The music will be furnished by Rev. Olin Greer at the keyboard, with her great grandson, Josh Peavy, providing the vocals for the service. Rev. Olin Greer and Josh Peavy will lead a congregational hymn, “What a Day That Will Be”.

The family will receive friends on Monday afternoon, August 9, 2021 from 2:30 to 3:30 at West Ward Church of God.

Active pallbearers for the service will be Matt Peavy, Josh Peavy, Thadd Peavy, Kameron Peavy, Gary May and George May

Due to COVID-19, attendees are asked to observe six foot social distancing at the visitation, funeral service and interment. Please wear your mask for safety precautions.

Ricketson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
