Mr. William Carl “Bill” Biddy, age 74, passed away on Sunday morning, August 15, 2021, at his home in Pearson, GA, following a brief illness. Bill was the son of the late Pat M. Biddy, Sr. and Ruth (Autry) Biddy Coffee of Pearson, and a member of First Baptist Church. Bill’s wit, sense of humor, and ability to tell a great story were trademarks that will be greatly missed by his friends, family, and community.

A familiar face at the Atkinson County Courthouse for a number of years, Bill retired from working day to day at the Tax Assessors Office in 2014, but he continued to serve on the Board of Assessors on a volunteer basis. Bill’s prior employment also included jobs with Georgia Power, the U.S. Post Office, and Brunswick Pulp. Bill was also a proud member of the American Legion Post #173 here in Atkinson County and also served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Bill was an avid University of Georgia football fan, and he also enjoyed gardening, canning vegetables, wood working, and being with friends.

Bill’s survivors include his loving fiancé, Susan Souther Bailey, of Pearson, GA; two brothers, Pat Biddy, Jr. of Wrightsville, GA, and Dennis Biddy and wife, Mary, of Eufaula, AL; two stepchildren, Brooke Bailey Wheeler and husband, Cory, of Atlanta, GA, and Brandon Bailey and wife, Kay, of Marietta, GA; two step grandchildren, Bailey and Rollins Wheeler; six nieces and nephews, Julia Caroline Akins and husband, Ricky; Dennis “Chip” Biddy, Jr.; Jo Margaret Bennett and husband, Jason; Trey Biddy and wife, Mary Linda; Laura Frith and husband, Drew; and Suzanne Howard and husband, Brad. Bill is also survived by eight great nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends, along with “Nikki T.,” Bill’s beloved pet (who was rarely not seen with Bill if he was out and about in town).

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made in Bill’s honor to his church, First Baptist Church, Post Office Box 38, Pearson, GA 31642.

Memorialization was by cremation, and a memorial service will be held by friends and family at a later date.

Relihan Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
