Emily Jean Buchan, age 85, of Douglas, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at Coffee Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Buchan was born on June 26, 1936 in Ocilla, Georgia the daughter of the late Reverend Ashley Griffin & Emma Gray Griffin.

 

Mrs. Buchan was a homemaker and a member of Douglas First Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Bobby Gene Buchan, her brothers, Albert (Grace) Griffin, Barney (Evelyn) Griffin, Virgil (Maurice) Griffin, Wiley (Pauline) Griffin, Earl Griffin, John David Griffin and one sister, Lillian (Paul) Fletcher. She was also preceded in death by her grandson, William Forrest Buchan.

 

Survivors include three sons, Vance (Myra) Buchan of St. Augustine, FL, Lee (Kimberly) Buchan of Orlando, FL and David (Michelle) Buchan of Douglas, GA; five grandchildren, Tiffany (JT) Holton, Taylor (Trey) Troupe, Kendall Dodson, Preslee Buchan and Jordan Buchan. She is also survived by one brother, Reverend Herman (Katherine) Griffin and sister-in-law, Faye Griffin and four great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

 

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. James “Stan” Sinclair for the excellent care Mrs. Buchan received during her illness. He went above and beyond and they are forever grateful.

 

The family will receive friends Tuesday, September 21, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Satilla Memorial Gardens.

 

Memorial graveside services will be held on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Satilla Memorial Gardens.

 

Memorialization is by cremation.

 

Attendees are asked to comply with the current guidelines and restrictions concerning containment of the coronavirus, including masks and social distancing.

 

Sims Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
