Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver and Pearson native Tyreek Hill set social media ablaze Sunday night when, during NBC’s telecast of the Chiefs’ game against the Baltimore Ravens, Hill said he attended the fictitious Pearson Community Technical College.

When introducing the starting line-ups during NFL games, networks allow the players to introduce themselves and announce what college they attend. A few players go off script, acknowledging their high schools or hometowns. Since Hill has been in the NFL, he has eschewed announcing his college; instead, he always says he’s from Pearson, Georgia.

Born in Pearson, Hill graduated from Coffee High School in Douglas and then enrolled at Garden City Community College, where he played for two years. He then attended Oklahoma State University for one year before playing his senior season at the University of West Alabama.

Sunday night, however, Hill went off script even more, stating that he attended Pearson Community Technical College. The joke did not go unnoticed; memes and references to PCTC started popping up almost immediately. It’s safe bet that it won’t be long before the t-shirts, hats, and other merchandise hit the streets. All in all, it was a very clever joke that won’t go away for a long time.

The Ravens defeated the Chiefs 36-35. Hill had one carry for 15 yards and three receptions for 14 yards with no touchdowns. The Chiefs are 1-1 on the season.
