Mr. Sam D. Wood, age 86, of Douglas passed away late Friday night, September 24, 2021 at his residence following a short illness. Mr. Wood was born November 1, 1934 to the late William Harvey Wood and the late Viola Johnson Wood. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by and infant daughter and several brothers and sisters.

Mr. Wood, a native of Raleigh, NC had been a truck driver for 6o plus years.

Survivors include:

Wife: Brenda Adams Wood of Douglas, GA

Children: Kathy Pietrantonio of Reading, PA
William Gregory Wood of Pensacola, FL
Jeffery Sam Wood of Knightdale, NC
John Samuel Wood of Douglas, GA
Jenifer Ellen McKenzie of Raleigh, NC
Charles Richard Wood Hurdle Mills, NC

Step-Children: Christy Medina and Amanda Gonzalez both of Douglas, GA

13 Grandchildren and 7 Step-Grandchildren

Several Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Many Friends

The funeral service will be Tuesday morning, September 28, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Chapel of Ricketson Funeral Home with Rev. Cliff Kirkland and Rev. Glen Fussell officiating. The interment will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Atkinson County.

The family will receive friends, Monday evening, September 27, 2021 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at Ricketson Funeral Home.

Due to COVID-19, the family would like to ask that all attendees, please follow the rules of social distancing and wear your mask for safety precautions at the visitation, service and interment.

Ricketson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
