Mr. Johnnie “Jack” May, age 93 of Axson, Ga. passed away, Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas, Ga. following a brief illness.

 

Mr. May was born March 24, 1928, son of the late Mose and Verdie Davis May. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and worked in sales for many years. He enjoyed several hobbies including traveling, puzzles, fishing, and hunting.

 

Mr. May was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Hendrix May, granddaughter Karey May Mendoza and sister Vera Peavy.

 

Survivors include:

 

2 Sons: Gary May and wife, Jo Ann of Axson, GA.

             George May and wife, Susan of Axson, GA.

 

1 Daughter: Linda Morris and husband Terry, of Kirkland, GA.

 

6 Grandchildren: 

Alayna Granger and husband, Robert of Carrollton, Texas.

Kristi May Crews and husband, Cody of Broxton, Georgia.

Amy Morris and husband, Jason of Jacksonville, Florida.

Nicole May Chaney of Douglas, Georgia.

Amanda Morris of Alma, Georgia.

Brandon Morris and wife, Amber of Pearson, Georgia.

 

20 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

 

He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.

 

Graveside services for Mr. May were held Friday, September 24, 2021, at 11:00 AM at Axson Cemetery with Rev. Travis Peavy, Sr., Bro. Travis Peavy, Jr., and Rev. Britt Peavy officiating.  Special musical selections included, “Amazing Grace” and “Precious Lord, Take My Hand” rendered by cd.  The interment followed in Axson Cemetery.

 

Serving as active pallbearers were:  Brandon Morris, Gary May, George May, Travis Peavy, Jr., Terry Morris and Britt Peavy.

 

Relihan Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
