Kevin Tatum, County Extension Coordinator

We want to thank our 4-H members who took part in the Adopt-A-Highway service project on Monday, September 20. They were: Broxton: Adelynn O’Steen; CMS: Shubh Sadarangani and Braleigh Smith; Junior Club: Keegan Harper  and May Belle Davis; Pre-Club Members: Alyia Hall, Jessa Hall, and Kayden Tumblin. Senior Club: Kilee Davis, Glenn O’Steen, Alexandra Rivero, Ishika Sadarangani, and Elissa Vaquerano. Adults: Alyse Hall, Steve Hall, Jean O’Steen, Chalanda Woods, and Patti Wright.

The next workday is scheduled for Monday, December 9, at 4 PM at the 4-H office. Please mark your calendar to come and take part in this service project. We could always use extra volunteer leaders to help. 4-H members earn 25 points toward the end of the year reward trip.

JUNIOR CONFERENCE

Junior 4-H members, let’s get together for an awesome weekend at Rock Eagle 4‑H Center where you will be having loads of fun with friends from all over the state of Georgia on November 20-21. It is opened to 6th-8th grades. The weekend includes a mix of workshops and education sessions, along with opportunities for community services and exhibits, planned by and led by the Junior Board of Directors. Recreational programs allow 4-H’ers to interact with youth from all over Georgia. Educational workshops, community service, and recreation are led by high school aged Teen Leaders. Cost is approximately $95. The last day to register is Wednesday, November 3.

If you are interested in displaying an exhibit at Junior Conference, an excellent way to share and can be used in your portfolio under sharing, deadline to register is Wednesday, November 3.

FALL FORUM

The Georgia 4-H Board of Directors are planning a fun-filled weekend for Fall Forum. The weekend (December 11-12) includes a mix of workshops and educational sessions along with opportunities for community service and exhibits. Registration for Fall Forum is open to any current 9th-12th grade 4-H members in the 2021-2022 school term. This event provides many opportunities for project work, competition, networking, and training for youth and adults.

The registration fee is $100 and is due by Friday, November 19. The registration fee covers Saturday lunch, dinner, and lodging, as well as Sunday breakfast. Pizzas can be ordered Saturday morning or at lunch and are $12 each.

4-H members can apply to lead a community service project at Fall Forum. The service leader online application is due by 5 PM on Wednesday, November 10, by 5 PM. Students may also apply to enter an exhibit in the Exhibit Fair. This would be a great way to add to the “Helping and Sharing” section of your DPA portfolio. The first 100 applications for exhibitor will be accepted.

You are also asked to contribute canned foods to the “4‑H Cans Hunger” service project. Be sure to turn in your canned foods to the 4-H office before December 8th. Please check expiration dates before donating items.

Feel free to contact the 4-H office if you have additional questions about Fall Forum.      If you would like to learn how you can become more involved with the Coffee County 4-H program, please contact the Coffee County Extension office at (912) 384-1402 or visit our website at http://coffee4h.org.
