4-H members are reminded to sign up for their DPA project as soon as possible so they can be prepared and practice their presentations before DPA. It’s the final three weeks of preparation for DPA which will be held in Lyons, Georgia, on Saturday, November 13. Don’t put it off. Members can also present their demonstrations during their monthly 4-H Club meetings for extra credit. For more information, call 384-1402.
JUNIOR CONFERENCE
Let’s get together for an awesome weekend at Rock Eagle 4‑H Center where you will be having loads of fun with friends from all over the state of Georgia on November 20-21. It is opened to 6th-8th grades. The weekend includes a mix of workshops and education sessions, along with opportunities for community services and exhibits, planned and led by the Southeast District 4‑H Junior Board of Directors. Recreational programs allow 4-H’ers to interact with youth from all over Georgia. Educational workshops, community service, and recreation are led by high school aged Teen Leaders. Cost is $95and the last day to register is Wednesday, November 3. November 3 is also the deadline to apply if you are interested in displaying an exhibit at Junior Conference. This is an excellent way to share information about your project and can be included in your DPA portfolio under sharing and helping.
GEORGIA NATIONAL FAIR ENTRIES
Congratulations to our 4-H members who entered into the contests at the Georgia National Fair. In the static exhibits, our participants and their placings were: Decorated Agricultural Products Exhibit: Ishika Sadaragani, 4th place; Mini-booth Exhibit: Jake Grantham, honorable mention; Muskan Minhas, 1st place; Brianna Moreno, 6th place; and Glenn O’Steen, 5th place; Recycling Contest: Aleigh Fuller, 4th place; Jake Grantham, 2nd place; Muskan Minhas, 1st place; Ishika Sadarangani, 9th place; Shubh Sadarangani, 4th place; Variety Show: Jake Grantham, 2nd place.
We also want to recognize two individual who also submitted into the County level: Mini-booth: Ishika Sadrangani, and Shubh Sadarangani.
NATIONAL 4-H WEEK
National 4-H Week was observed the week of October 3-9. We had a great group of 4-H members record public service announcements for the local radio stations. Participants included: Taleea Adams, Kilee Davis, Jake Grantham, Muskan Minhas, Brianna Moreno, Adelynn O’Steen, Glenn O’Steen, Ishika Sadarangani, Shubh Sadarangani, Florence Shealy, Elissa Vaquerano, Mrs. Jean O’Steen, and Mrs. Chalanda Woods.
In addition, 4-H members helped put out signs in the downtown area. These participants included: Nathan Cooper, Jake Grantham, Jadyn Martinez, Kaylyn McKinnon, Muskan Minhas, Brianna Moreno, Natalie Newell, Glenn O’Steen, Ishika Sadarangani, Shubh Sadarangani, Braylen Walker, Layla Walker, Mrs. Greta Grantham, and Mrs. Chalanda Woods.
Monday, October 4, the following 4-H members attended the County Commission meeting for the signing of the National 4-H Week Proclamation: Ashton Ates, Nathan Cooper, Jake Grantham, Muskan Minhas, Brianna Moreno, Glenn O’Steen, Mrs. Jean O’Steen, Ishika Sadarangani, Austin Strickland, Mr. Kevin Tatum, Janilla Warren, Sariah Wells, and Mrs. Chalanda Woods.
During National 4-H Week, Tuesday was “Thank a Teacher Day”. All the Coffee County teachers in the school system were treated to some delicious cookies.
Friday, October 8, the following 4-H members had the fun opportunity to experience live broadcast radio recording with Big John on 93.5 Vibe. They were: Sophie Bird, Nathan Cooper, Muskan Minhas, Brianna Moreno, Elissa Vaquerano, and Mrs. Chalanda Woods.
Junior and Senior 4-H members also took a trip to the Georgia National Fair and had a great time. National 4-H Week is celebrated every first full week in October.
