Mr. Harold L. Wright, Sr., age 76 of Douglas, passed away late Friday night, November 5, 2021 at Coffee Regional Medical Center following a short illness. Mr. Wright was born March 18, 1945 to the late T. Y. “Speed” Wright and the late Corrine Britt Wright. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Carol Wright.

Mr. Wright, a native of Turner County, had a master’s degree in science education. He retired from the Coffee County Board of Education after teaching at Coffee High School for many years. He also taught school at Greenleaf in Valdosta. He was also a Scout Master for the Boy Scouts and he was of the Baptist faith.

His Wife of 53 Years: Mavis O’Steen Wright of Douglas, GA

2 Children: Harold Lemar Wright, Jr. and wife Pattie of Nicholls, GA
Mavis Elaine Wright of Douglas, GA

1 Sister: Willene Bryant and husband Ray of Fitzgerald, GA

1 Brother: Earl Wright of Ashburn, GA

3 Grandchildren: Hannah Wright of Pembroke, GA
Nicolas Wright of Douglas, GA
Kimberly Wright of Nicholls, GA

Sister-in-Law: Marilyn O’Steen of Valdosta, GA

Several Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Many Friends

The funeral service will be Wednesday afternoon, November 10, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Chapel of Ricketson Funeral Home. The interment will follow in Salem Cemetery.


Due to COVID-19, the family asks that all attendees please follow the rules of social distancing and wear your mask for safety precautions to the visitation and service.

Ricketson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
