Twyman Carter, age 89, of Douglas, Georgia passed away on Monday, November 1, 2021 at Coffee Regional Medical Center. Mr. Carter was born on November 14, 1931 in Coffee County, Georgia the son of the late Kermit & Gladys Westberry Carter.
Mr. Carter worked as a Restaurant Manager with his brothers for many years at Carter’s Fried Chicken, Douglas, Georgia and was a member of First Assembly of God, Douglas, Georgia. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Eugene Carter, Tidwell Carter Sr., Steve Carter and Quitman “Buddy” Carter.
Survivors include his wife, Merlene M. Carter of Douglas, GA; daughter, Julie Greene (Tommy) of Douglas, GA; granddaughter, Hannah Phillips (Brandon) of Douglas, GA; great granddaughter, Jordyn Elise Phillips of Douglas, GA; brother, Roosevelt “Boots” Carter of Fitzgerald, GA; 2 sisters, Etha Mae Cumbass of Douglas, GA and Sarah Ann Anderson (Hubert) of Nicholls, GA; sisters-in-law’s, Patsy Carter, Brenda Carter and Virginia Carter; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Monday, November 8, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at First Assembly of God.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 8, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at First Assembly of God with Brother Marshall Adcock officiating with Jimmy Moore giving a eulogy. Interment will follow at Douglas City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Stan Moore, Keith Moore, Kevin Carter, Tidwell carter, Nathan Carter and Russell Mills.
Attendees are asked to comply with the current guidelines and restrictions concerning containment of the coronavirus, including masks and social distancing.
