Jeff Davis authorities make arrests on drug, weapons charges

The Jeff Davis Sheriff’s Drug Unit and the Hazlehurst Police Department drug investigator rounded up a half dozen individuals last week for drugs and weapons charges with two simultaneous searches and one follow up search.

 

On Monday, November 8, 2021 at approximately 1:15 p.m. Jeff Davis Sheriffs’ Deputies and drug investigators conducted a drug investigation in the Snipesville Community.  As a result, three individuals were found to be in possession of a quantity of methamphetamine and a loaded firearm.  A search warrant was conducted at his residence soon thereafter, additional quantities of methamphetamine, marijuana and another firearm were located in the home. 

 

James Roy Smith Jr, of Jeff Davis County, was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of methamphetamine, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and possession of marijuana less than one ounce.

 

Camila Marianna Orduna, of Jeff Davis County, was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

 

Simultaneously, at approximately 1:15 p.m. drug investigators also conducted a search at a residence on N Williams Street, Hazlehurst, Ga.  During the search, three individuals were found to be in possession of quantities of methamphetamine, illicit prescription medications, fentanyl and a large quantity of cash.

 

Jolene Peterson, of Jeff Davis County, was arrested and charged with Possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of controlled IV substance (Xanax), possession of a drug related object, probation violation and is a wanted fugitive from Florida for unrelated charges.

 

Monica Lajoie, of Jeff Davis County, was arrested and charged with Possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of scheduled V controlled substance with intent to distribute, possession of fentanyl with intent to distribute and possession of a drug related object.

 

Michael Weldon, of Jeff Davis Count, was arrested and charged with trafficking fentanyl, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of drug related object.

 

On Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at approximately 11:00 a.m. drug investigators conducted a search at a residence on Mulberry Rd in the Snipesville Community.  During a search of the property, a firearm and quantities of suspected methamphetamine and marijuana were discovered. 

 

Kalvin Wayne Smith Jr, of Jeff Davis County, was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm by a first offender, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana less than one ounce and probation violation.
