Mr. Gary Wayne Spivey, age 72 of Douglas, passed away Thursday afternoon, November 18, 2021 at Coffee Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. Mr. Spivey was born September 25, 1949 to the late Lonnie Spivey and the late Wynell Smith Spivey. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 sisters: Barbara Caves, Judy Vaughn and Jo Ann Spivey, and 1 Brother: Johnny Spivey.

Mr. Spivey, a native of Douglas, GA, was a prominent Coffee County farmer. He had been employed as a school bus driver for 31 years with the Coffee County Board of Education. He was a member of St. Illa Baptist Church.

His wife of 52 years: Carolyn Harper Spivey of Douglas, GA

1 Son: Jay Wayne Spivey and wife Ashley of Douglas, GA

4 Siblings: Linda Daniel of Douglas, GA
Sandra Lott of West Green, GA
Randy Spivey of Douglas, GA
Keith Spivey of Douglas, GA

5 Grandchildren: Christopher Logan Spivey of Pearson, GA
Hailee Spivey of Douglas, GA
Lil Jay Spivey of Douglas, GA
Maleah Martin of Douglas, GA
McKenzie Martin of Douglas, GA

Several Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Many Friends

The funeral service will be Monday morning, November 22, 2021 at 11:00 AM at St. Illa Baptist Church with Rev. Terry Reagin and Rev. Glenn Vaughn officiating. The interment will follow in St. Illa Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Sunday evening, November 21, 2021 from 6:00 PM until 8:30 PM at Chapel of Ricketson Funeral Home.

Due to COVID-19, the family would like to ask that all attendees please follow the rules of social distancing and wear your mask for safety precautions at the visitation, funeral service and interment.

Ricketson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
