GBI releases details regarding Christmas Eve shooting

On Friday, December 24, 2021, the GBI’s Douglas Regional Office received a request from the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office to assist with a death investigation.

 

On Friday, December 24, 2021, at approximately 7:00 p.m., the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office responded to 75 2nd Ave. S. Lot 8, Douglas, Coffee County, Georgia, in reference to a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, deputies found Jeremy Gillispie, 36, and a 1-year-old baby suffering from gunshot wounds. Gillispie and the baby were transported to Savannah for treatment. The baby succumbed to the injury.

 

As a result of investigative acts conducted by Coffee County investigators and agents, it was determined that Quan’Terris Rashaud Brockington, 21, of Douglas was identified as being involved with the shooting. Brockington was arrested on New Forest Hwy, in Douglas, Ga. Brockington was transported to the Coffee County Jail. Agents secured Felony Murder and Aggravated Assault warrants for Brockington. Additional charges will be forthcoming. The body of the baby was transported to the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office in Pooler, GA, for autopsy.

 

The investigation is active and ongoing.
