Mrs. Mary Oliver Brice, age 84, of Douglas, GA passed away on Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at Lakeside Senior Living Center in Douglas, GA, following an extended illness. Mrs. Brice was born on October 21, 1937 in Douglas, GA, to the late Tom S. Deen and Helen Folger Deen. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl L. Brice, Jr, and her daughter, Laura Gaye Brice.

Mary devoted most of her life to selflessly caring for her daughter Gaye, her parents, her sister, and lastly, her husband. In her free time, Mary served on several boards, committees, and worked on other community initiatives. A lifelong member of First United Methodist Church, she served in various capacities over the years.

She will be remembered most for her love of Coffee County, and her unconditional support of Earl and his lifelong commitment and service to the State of Georgia and Coffee County. Mary also loved to travel and shop with her “bridge club girls” over the last 40 years.

Her loves were her four children, six grandchildren, and her one great granddaughter. They include: her son, Thomas (Allison) Brice of Blairsville, GA; two daughters, Brooke Morgan of Douglas, GA and Dana (Chris) Calhoun of Douglas, GA; three grandsons, Brice Strob (Sarah) of Pridgen, GA, Taylor Brice of Colorado Springs, CO and Matthew Strob of Atlanta, GA; three granddaughters, Laura Calhoun of Douglas, GA, Natalie Brice of Blairsville, GA and Whitney Calhoun of Douglas, GA; and one great granddaughter, Brinley Rose Strob.

A graveside memorial service will be held on Monday, January 3, 2022, at 11:00AM, at the Douglas City Cemetery with Rev. Chris Calhoun officiating.

Memorialization will be by cremation.

The family would like to thank Barbara Mathis, Bethany Hospice, and the staff at Lakeside Senior Living Center for the wonderful care provided by each during her illness.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks memorials be made to Douglas First United Methodist Church Po Box 738 Douglas, GA 31534 to benefit Camp 151 or The Hope Center.

Due to COVID-19, Sims Funeral Home Inc. will require all customers, guests, and attendees to wear medical grade masks at all times while in our facility, as well as social distancing.
