Mr. James Carroll “Jimmy” Brown, 82 of Patterson, passed away early Saturday morning, January 22, 2022, at Memorial Satilla Health Center.

Born in Patterson, GA on October 23, 1939, he had lived in Pierce County all of his life.  Mr. Brown was a 1956 graduate of Patterson High School.  He retired from CSX Transportation as a Yard Master but had also enjoyed farming and tending to his cattle over the years.  Mr. Brown was member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and was in the Harmony Sunday school class.  He was a fun-loving man who was always joking around.  He did have a compassionate side as he always made time for people from all walks of life, helping them any way he could, even teaching them things that life had taught him.  Fishing and deer hunting were some favorite past-times of his.  He dearly loved his family and will be greatly missed by them all.

He was a son of the late Tollie Chester & Annie Maude Creech Brown.  He was also preceded in death by his brother, Billy Brown.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Zoie “Lucille” Crosby Brown of Patterson; three sons and daughters-in-law, Wesley C. & Kim Brown of Wray, and Keith & Angie Brown and Chad & Denise Brown all of Patterson; 5 grandchildren, Savannah (Dan) Hobby, Olivia Brown, Logan Boyette, Colby Brown, and Jake Brown; a great grandchild, Mia Boyette; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Funeral services for Mr. Brown will be held Thursday, January 27, 2022, at 2:00 o’clock from the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

Interment will be in the Patterson Cemetery with military honors.

The family will receive friends at the church from 12 until 2 Thursday afternoon.

The family kindly requests members of the Harmony Sunday school class, members of the Patterson High School class of 1956, and Jim Cornelius, Carl Boyette, Stevie Sweat, Ray Douberly, and Robert Thomas to serve as honorary pallbearers.  Please meet at the church by 1:30 on Thursday afternoon.

Memorials may be made to the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 1871 Tyre Bridge Road, Patterson, GA  31557.

Due to Covid-19, the use of facemasks as well as social distancing is strongly encouraged.

Pearson-Dial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
