Mrs. Betty Smith Jones, age 72 of Douglas, GA, passed away late Sunday evening, January 23, 2022, at Coffee Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. Mrs. Jones was born February 27, 1949 to the late Foy Omar Smith and the late Betty Margaret Holmes Smith.

Mrs. Smith, a native of Vidalia, GA, had been a clerk at Wal-Mart. She attended Faith Chapel Church.

Survivors include:

3 Children: Lisa Connell of Glenwood, GA
Michelle Bowen of Nicholls, GA
Teresa Ellis of West Green, GA

1 Brother: Jim Smith of Douglas, GA

2 Sisters: Cheryl Valenzuela of Douglas, GA
Diane Nipper of Douglas, GA

8 Grandchildren and 6 Great Grandchildren

A number of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends

The funeral service will be Wednesday afternoon, January 26, 2022, at 4:00 P.M. at Chapel of Ricketson Funeral Home with Rev. Kevin Connell officiating. The interment will follow at Salem Cemetery.

The family will receive friends, Tuesday evening, January 25, 2022, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Ricketson Funeral Home.

Active Pallbearers for the service will be: Charlie D. Nipper, Adam Owens, Johnnie Ellis, Edison Connell, Matthew Bowen, Brandon Ellis, J. J. Ellis and Keith Smith.

Due to COVID, we ask that all attendees to please follow the rules and guidelines for social distancing and to wear your mask for safety precautions at the visitation, service and interment.

Ricketson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
