Mrs. Leola Lott Spivey, age 91 of Valdosta, GA, formerly of Coffee County, passed away Friday afternoon, January 21, 2022, at the home of her son, Thurston Spivey, in Valdosta. Mrs. Spivey was born February 24, 1930, to the late William Roy Lott and the late Alliner Parker Lott. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers: Arlie, William Roy (W. R.), Elisha and Raymond Lott and three sisters: Lucille Griffin, Loleta Haskins and Pauline Miller and one grandson: Kevin Carver.

Mrs. Spivey married Lee Spivey, who preceded her in death, on July 23, 1949, in Atkinson County, GA. She was a farmer, homemaker, and a dedicated member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Survivors include:

4 Children: Wanda Faye Ortiz of Valdosta, GA
Shirlene Stowe and husband Donald of Opelika, AL
Kathy Hixon and husband Tom of Montgomery, AL
Thurston Spivey and wife Mary of Valdosta, GA

1 Sister: Thelma Burkett of Alma, GA

11 Grandchildren: Jerry Carver, Jennifer Hayward, Lee Ann Mefford, Justin Whitaker, Glen Smith, Curtis Spivey, Jana Enderle, Bonnie Sherwood, Julie Umberger, Becky VonNiederhausern and Casey Spivey.

A number of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends

The funeral service will be held Wednesday morning, January 26, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Chapel of Ricketson Funeral Home with Bishop Michael Jackson of Douglas, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints officiating. The dedication of the grave will be at Elam-Harper Cemetery near Ambrose,

The family will receive friends on Wednesday morning, January 26, 2022, from 10:00 AM until 10:50 AM at Ricketson Funeral Home.

Due to COVID, we ask for all attendees to please follow the rule and guidelines for social distancing and to wear your mask for safety precautions at the visitation, funeral service and interment.

Ricketson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
