Mrs. Susan Michelle Smith Carlson, age 51 of Nicholls, GA, passed away late Friday evening, January 14, 2022 at her residence following an extended illness. Mrs. Carlson was born May 29, 1970 to Brenda Joyce Tankersley Smith Carver and the late Philip Dave Smith.

Susan was a native of Augusta, GA. She had received her bachelor’s degree in psychology. She was a coordinator and supervisor in Social Services for Columbia Organization. Susan was a member of West Ward Church of God.

Survivors include:

Her Husband: Kenny Lane Carlson of Nicholls, GA

Her Mother: Brenda Joyce Tankersley Smith Carver of Douglas, GA

Step-Father: Alton Carver of Douglas, GA

2 Brothers: Philip Smith and wife Kim of Ambrose, GA
Michael Smith and wife Tracee of Patterson, GA

1 Sister: Joyce Smith Fielding and husband Jason of Douglas, GA

Several Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and many Friends.

The funeral service will be Monday afternoon, January 17, 2022 at 2:00 PM at West Ward Church of God with Bishop Britt Peavy officiating. The interment will follow in Union Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, south of Lax, GA

The family will receive friends on Monday afternoon, January 17, 2022 from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM at West Ward Church of God.

Due to COVID-19, the family has asked all attendees to please follow the rules and guidelines for social distancing and to wear your mask for safety precautions at the visitation, service and interment.

Ricketson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
