The Douglas Police Department has been awarded $11,400 from Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation Grant Program. The Police Department will utilize the grant funds to equip eight patrol cars with Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs).

“We are so grateful for the grant funds for these life saving devices,” says Douglas Police Chief Shane Edmisten. “We thank Firehouse Subs, Mayor Paulk, and the City Commission for their continued support of public safety.”

The AEDs will allow DPD officers to provide on-scene, lifesaving assistance in situations where a sudden cardiac arrest may occur. The devices have the ability to analyze the heart’s rhythm and, when necessary, deliver an electrical shock, or defibrillation, to help the heart re-establish an effective rhythm.

Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation is a separate legal entity from Firehouse Subs which operates the restaurants. Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization and Firehouse Subs is the largest corporate supporter.
