Wanda Faye Wilcox, age 63, of Colbert, Georgia, passed away on Friday, January 28, 2022.

 

Wanda was born February 3, 1958. She was the daughter of the late Joel “Bunk” and Rudene Grantham Wilcox. She was preceded in death by her brother, Joel Wilcox Jr. and her sister, Jeannie Wilcox.

 

She is survived by several cousins, including Delnee (Jennifer) Wilcox, Paula (Rod) Powell, Charles Howard, Jeff (Lynn) Grooms, and Danny (Linda) Drummond and their families.  She is also by survived by two Godchildren, Josh and Emily Ballard-Myer.

 

Wanda was a retired Academic Advisor for the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences with the University of Georgia. She also taught several Women’s Studies and Religion classes during her career. Wanda was well-known as a beloved Sunday school teacher at First Presbyterian Church of Athens.

 

A memorial service will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at the First Presbyterian Church of Athens with a reception to follow at The Taylor-Grady House located at 634 Prince Ave. in Athens.

 

 

Bernstein Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

 

Sims Funeral Home will assist in a graveside memorial service, to be held at Lone Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery, on Saturday, February 26, 2022, at a time not yet decided.
