George David Green, 76, of Douglas, Georgia, passed away at Coffee Regional Medical Central on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 surrounded by family.

 

David spent his life devoted to his family and in community service. He was born September 10, 1945 in Brunswick, GA and graduated from Duncan U. Fletcher High School in 1965. He married Nell Reaves at Sand Hill Methodist Church on June 7, 1970 in Jacksonville, GA.

 

During the Vietnam War, David honorably served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1965-1969. He continued his service with the Flotilla 14-4 U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary in Jacksonville Beach, FL and American Legion Honor Gaurd. He was and active participant in the Jacksonville Beach COP program, and served as a police officer for Ocilla, GA, and a Sheriff’s Deputy for Dougherty County. Most of his career was spent with Procter and Gamble, with 23 years as a Process Safety Engineer.

 

David was an avid Georgia Bulldogs and FSU fan, and spent several years coaching Pop Warner football. He is preceded in death by his mother, Juanita Strang, step-father Alder Strang, and brother, John Green. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Nell Green, son, David Green (Sarah) of Newport News, VA, daughter, Nicole Green of Jacksonville, FL, and grandchildren, Caleb Cabeza-Truque, Kevin Green, Brandon White, and Conor Green. A memorial service is planned for a later date at Reedy Branch Baptist Church.
