Lena Ann Bowen, age 65, of Douglas, Georgia, passed away on Monday, February 14 2022 at Coffee Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.  Ms. Bowen was born on Friday, May 11, 1956, in Coffee County, Georgia, to the late James William (J.W). Merritt and Ruth Story.

 

Survivors include: Three Daughters; Malissia Ann Jewel of Douglas, Davina C. Bowen and husband Joseph of Douglas, Summer Lea Westberry of Douglas, One Brother; James Merritt and wife Janice of Douglas, One Sister; Glenda Young of Douglas, Half Brothers; Ronnie Merritt of Metter, Ga and Brian Merritt of Nicholls, GA, Three Grandchildren; Mahalie Porter, Allie S. Jewell, Christina Minchew (John), Great Grandchildren; Maci Porter, Saxxton Porter, Ry’lee Griffin, Ellie Rae Griffin, Emberlyn Minchew, and Addalyn Minchew. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.  Ms. Bowen was preceded in death by her parents James Williams (J.W.)  Merritt and Ruth Story, One Brother; John William Merritt, and One Sister; Diane Merritt.

 

Family will receive friends on Sunday, February 20, 2022, from 6:00PM to 9:00PM, at Sims Funeral Home.

 

Funeral services for Ms. Bowen will be held at the Chapel of Sims Funeral Home on Monday, February 21 2022, at 2:00PM, with the interment to follow at New Hope Cemetery with Rev. Wendell Moseley officiating.

 

Sims Funeral Home Inc. will require all customers, guests, and attendees to wear medical grade masks at all times while in our facility, as well as social distancing. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, however the safety of our staff and those we serve are our primary concern. Masks will not be provided.

 

Sims Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
