Mildred Diane Merritt, age 73, of Douglas, Georgia, passed away on Monday, February 14, 2022 at Coffee Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. Ms. Merritt was born on Monday, February 14, 1949 in Dodge County to the late Eschel David Sheffield and Susie Farmer.
Survivors include: Two Sons; Bryan Keith Merritt of Nicholls, Georgia and James Merritt and wife Tammy of Metter, Georgia. Nine Grandchildren; Nicole Cowart, Dustin Cowart, Theresia Ramirez, Eddie Rowe, Tiffany Merritt, Brittany Merritt, Sean Gifford, Timothy Gifford, and Brandon Gifford. Twelve Great-Grandchildren; Tyler O’Quinn, James Brannen (JC), Gracie Cowart, Diana Gillespie, Alex Ramirez, Abby Ramirez, Dixie Rowe, Ruben Gonzalez, Gaby Alvarado, Kazie Rodriquez, Raelynn Merritt, Eric Gifford, and Timmy Haligan. One Great-Great Grandchild, Ellie O’Quinn. Ms. Merritt was preceded in death by her husband; James “J.W.” Merritt, One Daughter; Diane Merritt, Two Brothers; David Sheffield and John W. Sheffield, and Two Sisters; Louise Floyd and Inez Floyd.
Family will receive friends on Saturday, February 19, 2022, from 2:00PM until 4:00PM at Sims Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 19, 2022, at 4:00PM, at the Chapel of Sims Funeral Home, with Rev. John Jameson and Rev. Brandon Mathis officiating. Active Pallbearers will be: Johnny O’Quinn, Matt Clements, Adam Fulton, Dave Sheffield, Steven Cothern, and Timmy Haligan.
