Thomas Edwin “Buster” Story, age 73, of Savannah, GA (formerly from Douglas, GA) passed away on Thursday, February 10, 2022 at his residence following a brief illness.

Buster was born September 25, 1948 in Douglas, GA to the late Dannie Austin Story and Audrey Jean Joyce. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Thomas Scott Story, 2 brothers Donnie A Story & Lonnie E Story.

Buster served 3 years in the army from 1968-1970. He served 4 months in Vietnam before being wounded. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Expert Rifleman status, Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Service Stars, and two Purple Hearts: one for wounds received in action, and one for heroism in ground combat.

After returning home, he started his career in construction, from home building to industrial construction. He worked his way up to supervisor position and small job project manager. Later in life he started a small business before retiring in 2009.  He loved working with wood and built many beautiful things from wood.

Survivors include: his wife of 50 years, Dorothy, and one son, Micheal Story, both of Savannah; one sister, Beverly Garner (Randall), one brother Barry Story, both of Douglas, GA; and several nieces and nephews.
