Mrs. Mary Giddens Rackley, age 94 of Pelham, Ga. passed away, Monday, February 14, 2022, at Parkway Nursing Home in Pelham, Ga. following an extended illness. 

 

She was born in Pearson, Ga. on December 22, 1927, daughter of Willie and Bessie Lee Solomon Giddens.  Mrs. Rackley lived in the South Georgia area, including Pearson, Waycross and Pelham, where during that time she raised her children, alongside her husband, while being a homemaker and also working at McNeal’s Distributors and Baptist Village Nursing Home, as an office secretary.  She was a member of Union Hill Congregational Christian Church and enjoyed reading and working in her yard and flowers. 

 

Mrs. Rackley was preceded in death by her husband, Orin Rackley, 3 brothers; W.P. Giddens, J.C. Giddens and Ken Giddens, as well as 3 sisters; Mattie Schuett, Rhoda Hodges, and Leola Shepard.

Survivors include:

Son:  Ed Sapp and wife, Vickie of Vada, Ga.

2 Grandchildren:  Tori White and husband, Kevin of Camilla, Ga.

 

Ashley Sapp of Pelham, Ga.

5 Great-Grandchildren:  Kinsley White

Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Rackley were held Thursday, February 17, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Union Hill Cemetery with Bro. Mike Witherspoon officiating.  Special musical selections included, “Go Rest High” and “Amazing Grace” rendered by cd.  The interment followed in Union Hill Church Cemetery.

Relihan Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
