Mrs. Carrie Jean Gillis Thomas, age 82 of Nicholls, GA, passed away Monday morning, February 21, 2022, at Coffee Regional Medical Center following a short illness. Mrs. Thomas was born June 16, 1939 to the late Jesse Gaston Gillis and the late Rena Frances Mills Gillis. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. John Thomas; 1 sister, Mary Ellen Whitley; 1 brother, Jesse George Gillis and 1 grandson, Lee Taylor.

 

Mrs. Thomas, a native of Nicholls, GA, had been a floral designer with Thomas Flowers for a number of years. She was a faithful member of Forest Grove Baptist Church.

 

Survivors include:

 

Daughters: Kathy Jean Taylor of West Green, GA
Debra Streat and husband Edward of Ambrose, GA

 

Sister: Burrell Harper of Nicholls, GA

 

Brother: Lonnie Gaston Gillis of Nicholls, GA

 

Grandchildren: Patty Vickers of West Green, GA
Candice Vickers of Douglas, GA
Michael Taylor of Nicholls, GA
Daniel Taylor West Green, GA

 

11 Great Grandchildren and 7 Great-Great Grandchildren

 

A number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends

 

The graveside service and interment will be Wednesday afternoon, February 23, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Forest Grove Cemetery with Rev. Willie Wilson officiating.

 

Due to COVID, the funeral home has asked all attendees to please follow the rules and guidelines for social distancing and to wear your mask for safety precautions at the graveside service and interment.

 

Ricketson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
