Peggy Jean Guthrie, age 68 of Douglas, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at Coffee Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. Mrs. Guthrie was born on July 5, 1953, in Coffee County, Georgia, to the late Alonzo Melvin and Ruby Hope Melvin.

 

Survivors include: Her Husband;  Jerold O. Guthrie, Daughter; Christy Smith (Guy) of Polk City, FL, Four Grandchildren; Cody Smith (Megan) of Lakeland, FL, Dylan Smith (Alexandra) of Lakeland, FL, Courtney Harvey of Ponce Inlet, FL, Corie Lavan of FL, Three Great-Grandchildren; Carley Smith, Wyatt Smith, Haddie Mae Smith, Brothers; Hoyt Melvin of Watkinsville, GA, Joel Melvin of Dallas, GA, and Sister; Marie Gilliard of Douglas, GA. Mrs. Guthrie was preceded in death by her parents;  Alonzo Melvin and Ruby Hope Melvin, Son; Matthew Guthrie, and a Daughter; Jeanie Lavan.

 

The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 26, 2022, at the First Baptist Church in Douglas, GA, from 1:00PM until 2:00PM.

 

The funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2022, at 2:00PM, at the First Baptist Church in Douglas, GA, with Rev. Shep Johnson and Rev. Johnathan McDuffie officiating.

 

Sims Funeral Home Inc. will require all customers, guests, and attendees to wear medical grade masks at all times while in our facility, as well as social distancing. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, however the safety of our staff and those we serve are our primary concern. Masks will not be provided.
