Joseph C. Jewell, age 82, of Douglas, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2022 at his residence following an extended illness. Mr. Jewell was born on November 3, 1939 in Ambrose, Georgia to the late Richard Jewell and Sarah Mizell Jewell.
Survivors include: Wife; Shirley Durrance Jewell, Three Sons; Richard Jewell (Brandi) of Douglas, GA, Jody Jewell (Donna) of Douglas, GA, Jason Jewell (Angie) of Douglas, GA, Three Daughters; Sarah Morrison (Jimmy) of Douglas, GA, Serena Guerrero (Pascual) of Douglas, GA, Mary Vilchis (Damian) of Douglas, GA, and One Sister; Dorothy Crosby of Douglas, GA, 21 Grandchildren, 36 Great-Grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews, including a special Nephew; Jake Mizell
Mr. Jewell was preceded in death by: Parents; Richard Jewell and Sarah Mizell Jewell, Eight Brothers; Isom Jewell, Edwin Jewell, Buford Jewell, Bob Jewell, Curlon Jewell, Carroll Jewell, Talmadge Jewell, Billy Jewell, Five Sisters; Lillian Morris, Ruby Waldron, Gladys Roberts, Juanelle Ortiz, Mary Jewell, One Grandson; Josh Courson, and a Great-Granddaughter; Madilyn Spires.
The family will receive friends on Monday, March 14, 2022, from 6:00PM until 9:00PM at Sims Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 15, 2022, at 2:00PM, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with Bishop Michael Jackson, Justin Morris, Candi Amerson, Robert Taylor, and Sharon Chancey officiating. The interment will follow at Little Utah Cemetery in Atkinson County, Georgia. Active Pallbearers will be: Aaron Morrison, Corey Morrison, Joseph Guerrero, P.J. Guerrero, Jarick Spires, Joey Castillo, Kaleb Knight, and Shawn Bennett.
