On March 27, 2022, Janie Davis rested peacefully in the arms of Jesus as her battle with cancer ended.

Janie, born on December 17, 1958, lived her life as a true servant. A bold soul with a selfless heart, she was an avid adventurer and a seasoned traveler. She was the epitome of an independent woman: a seamstress and a baker, a relentless creative, and conveniently, a problem-solver who could figure out or fix most anything on-the-fly. Janie cared for others often and well, earning the nickname “Gypsy Nana” as she would quickly pack up and go wherever she was needed most. To know her was to love her, and the community she surrounded herself with is living proof.

Janie is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Brooke and Brian Buffington of Clarkesville, Georgia, and Bridgett and Shon Coleman of Warner Robins, Georgia; her grandchildren, Jet, Elle, Faythe, Cody, and Sadie Jo; her brothers Jeffrey and Joey, and her sister, Paula. She is preceded in death by her parents, Julean Tyre and Joseph Wilson Butler, Jr.

Funeral services for Mrs. Janie Davis were held on Thursday, March 31, 2022, at Relihan Funeral Home Chapel in Pearson, Ga. with Rev. Edward Mathews and Brian Buffington officiating.  Special musical selection included, “It Is Well” presented by cd.  The interment followed in the Axson Cemetery.

In honor of Janie’s love for the beach, family and friends were encouraged to consider dressing as “summery” and “beachy” as you’d like for her services. If you would like to make a donation to Hospice of NGMC in lieu of flowers, we know she would deeply approve.
